Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course (CRFSC)
The Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course(CRFSC) is available to anyone 18 years of age & up & deals with handguns & some military style long guns. It consists of two parts, one is hands on classroom instruction, the other is learning the student handbook material.
This 6 hour “standalone” introductory restricted firearm safety course is designed to follow the CFSC & is intended for all new Restricted firearms users. The CRFSC is designed to assist you in developing the knowledge and skills to interact with Restricted firearms in a responsible manner.
I prefer the student have completed the CFSC prior to attending this course but it is not a legal requirement.
By completing the CRFSC course, you will learn how to achieve the following goals:
- Handle Restricted firearms and ammunition safely, legally, & responsibly.
- Use Restricted firearms and ammunition safely, legally, & responsibly.
- Comply with Restricted firearms laws, including prescribed “prohibited” & “antique” firearms.
- Store Restricted firearms and ammunition safely, legally, & responsibly.
- Display Restricted firearms and ammunition safely, legally, & responsibly.
- Transport Restricted firearms and ammunition safely, legally, & responsibly.
There will be both written and practical examinations. Passing them will demonstrate the knowledge and skills you gained from the course. Students must pass successfully the Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course (CRFSC) examination to apply for a Restricted Possession and Acquisition License (RPAL) in order to acquire/possess handguns & some military style rifles.
It takes 2-3 months to get a PAL or Minors’ License. Be prepared & plan ahead!
