Ontario Hunter Education Program (OHEP)
The Ontario Hunter Education program(OHEP) is an introductory course (minimum 7 hours) designed for all new hunters 12 years of age & up (some age exceptions may apply). The program provides important information for the individual interested in hunting.
I prefer the student have completed the CFSC prior to attending this course but it is not a legal requirement.
The Program covers the following:
- Ontario’s hunter education course
- Responsible hunting
- Wildlife management
- Wildlife laws
- Rifles, shotguns, & muzzleloaders
- Bowhunting
- Shooting skills/marksmanship
- Hunting safety
- Treestand safety
- Equipment, survival, & first aid
- Hunting techniques
- Shot placement
- Wildlife identification
Important Course Information
- For safety reasons, NO student is permitted to bring any firearm or ammunition to the classroom. Disabled firearms and dummy (inert) ammunition are provided by the instructor.
- Maximum class size is 15 students, with 12 being the normal size.
- Students MUST arrive on time (8AM) and full attendance is required.

2 day (10 hours plus breaks, lunches, & test time) OHEP course fee: $160.00 (test included)
OHEP Student Manual (Copyrighted 2022), if required: $20.00
